Training Safety Rules & Procedures

These rules and procedures are a general overview and will be reviewed thoroughly prior to training.

No live ammunition in the classroom.

Treat every firearm as if it were loaded.

Never point a firearm at anything you are not willing to shoot, kill or destroy.

Keep your finger off the trigger and outside of the trigger guard until you are ready to shoot.

Be sure of your target, your backstop and beyond.

All safety rules for handling firearms must be obeyed and will be enforced.

Strict discipline will be maintained and carelessness will not be tolerated.

Load, reload, and unload as instructed.

Do not anticipate commands or instructions.

Never take someone’s word that the firearm is unloaded. Always check it yourself.

Never hand a firearm to someone or take a firearm from someone unless the action is open and the firearm is handed or taken butt/grip first, except when dealing with instructors on the line.

We are responsible for each other’s safety. Anyone seeing a safety problem should report it immediately to the training staff.

Any shooter can order a “cease fire” for any reason. When Cease Fire is called stop immediately, remain in place, secure weapons and direct attention to instructors.

No unnecessary talking on the firing line.

Never draw or holster a handgun with the finger in the trigger guard or on the trigger.

In the case of a malfunction (except for a Squib Round), attempt to clear and continue firing as instructed. If problems persist, raise a hand for instructor assistance.

Should you drop your firearm for any reason do not attempt to grab or retrieve it until it has come to rest on the range floor and the range is made safe.

0% is the only acceptable blood/alcohol content while in possession of a firearm.

Participants must wear eye and ear protection while on the range.

It is each participant’s responsibility to cover all open wounds and cuts before training.

Request clarification when you are not clear on instructor directions.

Periodically an instructor may need to touch you for safety reasons or to make adjustments.

Always conduct a proper safety check of your firearm before and after a training session.

Be sure to wash hands with soap and cold water before ingesting food or drink.

Any violation of any of the above listed rules may result in removal from the range.
